KCD2 Recipes: Complete Alchemy and Crafting Guide

The short answer

KCD2 recipes include alchemy, smithing sketches, and food processing, but each uses a different station. If you searched for KCD2 alchemy, this page covers ingredients, bench controls, potion steps, quality, and unlocks. Most KCD2 recipes can be brewed before Henry buys or reads them; the first success records the entry in the herbarium.

The guide covers 22 non-poison KCD2 recipes, three poison KCD2 recipes, and three story-DLC KCD2 recipes. For practical KCD2 recipes early on, start with Marigold Decoction, Saviour Schnapps, Nighthawk, and one combat buff. Keep poison KCD2 recipes and application rules separate.

For the moment to drink Marigold—and what to check when Health keeps falling—use the KCD2 heal guide.

Complete KCD2 Recipes Ingredient List

For these KCD2 recipes, “1×” means one handful or unit. Use the detailed steps when order, grinding, heating, or finishing matters.

Soap and Fever Tonic appear with the other KCD2 recipes because they use the alchemy bench. For Fever Tonic, the Thomas rescue guide covers the ingredient chest, tower access, and delivery.

How to Read and Brew KCD2 Recipes

All KCD2 recipes follow the same bench logic. This is the core KCD2 alchemy loop:

At the alchemy bench

  1. Select one of the KCD2 recipes or place its ingredients on the right shelf.
  2. Pour the correct base into the cauldron.
  3. Add or grind ingredients in the stated order.
  4. Lower the cauldron and use the hourglass for each stated turn. Operate the bellows only when KCD2 recipes explicitly call for them.
  5. Raise the cauldron after the final boil, then add any unheated ingredient.
  6. Pour into a phial or use the still, as directed.

The bellows restore the fire; they do not replace the sandglass. At low Alchemy skill, follow KCD2 recipes precisely. Later perks add error tolerance, so shortcuts can work for one build and fail for another.

How to Distil KCD2 Recipes

For KCD2 recipes ending in distil (or distill), finish brewing and raise the cauldron.

Follow the steps

  1. Take a phial from the lower-left shelf, behind the still.
  2. While holding it, aim at the still beneath the liquid-base shelf and hold the indicated button.
  3. Henry distils and bottles the result.

If Distil is greyed out, check you hold a phial. Aim for the phial prompt; the nearby still can catch your cursor. For KCD2 recipes ending in pour, use the phial on the cauldron rather than the still.

Marigold Decoction KCD2 Recipes Steps

Keep five fresh Marigolds for Adleta if you plan to complete the In Vino Veritas wine quest through the book route.

Follow the steps

  1. Pour water into the cauldron.
  2. Add 1 Nettle and boil for two turns.
  3. Grind 2 Marigold, add them, and do not boil again.
  4. Pour the mixture directly into a phial.

Saviour Schnapps KCD2 Recipes Steps

Saviour Schnapps makes KCD2 recipes immediately useful because it enables a manual save. The KCD2 saving methods guide shows when to spend it instead of relying on a bed, autosave, or Save & Quit.

If Belladonna rather than the brewing steps is blocking KCD2 recipes, use the KCD2 Belladonna guide for reliable locations, vendors, and a harvesting route.

  1. Pour wine into the cauldron.
  2. Add 1 Nettle and boil for two turns.
  3. Grind 2 Belladonna, add them, and boil for one turn.
  4. Pour directly into a phial.

Nighthawk KCD2 Recipes Steps

Among early KCD2 recipes, Nighthawk is the choice for caves, night travel, or dark interiors.

  1. Pour water into the cauldron.
  2. Grind 2 Eyebright and add them.
  3. Add 1 Belladonna and boil for three turns.
  4. Grind 1 Chamomile, add it, then pour.

Bane and Lethean Water KCD2 Recipes Steps

For Bane, one of the poison KCD2 recipes, pour wine, add 1 Wormwood and boil for two turns. Grind 2 Belladonna, add it, use the bellows for one turn, add 1 Fly Agaric, then distil. Bane punishes careless handling; read the linked poison guide before applying it.

For Lethean Water, one of the rarer KCD2 recipes, pour spiritus, grind 2 Wormwood and add it, then add 1 Belladonna and boil for three turns. Add 1 Henbane and distil. This potion resets chosen perks, so save before using it. The Thunderstone quest guide explains one quest route that can reward it.

How to Unlock KCD2 Recipes Without Wasting Groschen

Buying instructions is optional for most KCD2 recipes. In KCD2 alchemy, brewing one known cheap recipe adds it to the herbarium, so spend Groschen on rare ingredients instead. Buy the page when you want an in-game reference or have not verified the steps. Quest-bound KCD2 recipes such as Fever Tonic and DLC KCD2 recipes still require their relevant story or side quest.

Troskowitz and Kuttenberg have alchemy benches and merchants. On PC, the KCD2 item codes guide is useful only for disposable developer-mode testing, not a normal unlock route.

KCD2 Recipes Quality, Perks, and Fast Brewing

Results from KCD2 recipes can be Weak, Regular, Strong, or Henry's quality. Fresh herbs and accurate timing improve consistency; higher Alchemy skill forgives errors. Secret of Secrets at level 16 enables Henry's quality, while Secret of Matter favors output. Compare them in the KCD2 best perks guide.

There is no universal one-button auto-brew. Test shortcuts before risking rare ingredients. For sales, the KCD2 money guide compares cost, time, and demand.

DLC KCD2 Recipes Added After Launch

Three story-DLC KCD2 recipes require their expansions and quest ingredients. The KCD2 Mysteria Ecclesiae guide covers the monastery sequence for its two medical KCD2 recipes.

Reference table

DLC recipeExpansionBase and ingredientsUnlock context
Mandrake DecoctionBrushes with DeathWine; 1× Mandrake Root, 1× Freshwater Pearl, 2× SageLearned during Root of Evil

Essential OilMysteria EcclesiaeOil; 3× Chamomile, 1× Sage, 1× ValerianRecipe book in the monastery library; used for the plague hood

For Mandrake Decoction, one of the DLC KCD2 recipes, boil the Mandrake Root one turn, add ground Freshwater Pearl and boil one turn, add ground Sage, use the bellows one turn, then distil. The two Mysteria Ecclesiae KCD2 recipes are quest-focused: Anti-inflammatory Potion is poured after its final ground Ginger, while Essential Oil is poured after Chamomile, ground Sage, and ground Valerian are processed in order.

Other Crafting Is Not the Same as KCD2 Recipes

Blacksmithing uses sketches, heating, hammering, and quenching for weapons and horseshoes, not the bench used for KCD2 recipes. Cooking pots cook eligible items, while smokehouses and drying racks preserve food or herbs; they do not combine arbitrary ingredients into meal-style KCD2 recipes. Gunpowder and shot instructions also sit outside potion KCD2 recipes.

KCD2 Recipes FAQ

Is KCD2 alchemy the same as KCD2 recipes?

KCD2 alchemy is the bench process used for potion and poison KCD2 recipes. This guide covers those KCD2 recipes and their brewing steps, while separating smithing sketches and food processing that players may call KCD2 recipes but cannot brew at an alchemy bench.

Why did one of my KCD2 recipes fail?

Recheck the base, ingredient count, grinding order, number of turns, and final pour-versus-distil action. Higher skill forgives more mistakes, so a shortcut that works on one save can fail on a new character.
